Walter Santesso

Walter Santesso ( born February 27, 1931 in Padua, † 20 January 2008 in Padua ) was an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. His most famous role is that of the intrusive press photographers Paparazzo in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita.

Santessos career as a film actor began in 1951 with a supporting role in L'ultima sentenza. After another small roles he played then in 1960, directed by Federico Fellini in La Dolce Vita the paparazzi press photographers. The name of this role became established in the following years as a term for photographers who operate on the hunt for images of celebrities questionable methods.

Great success as an actor remained for Santesso out in the next few years. After standing for Mercanti di Vergini for the last time before the camera, he brought in two other films directed. The more successful of these two productions is La carica delle patate. For this children's film Santesso was awarded the main prize at the Giffoni Film Festival ( Europe's largest children's film festival ).
