Walter Zimper

Walter Zimper ( born April 29, 1942 in market Piesting, Lower Austria, † 13 January 2008 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician of the ÖVP.

Walter Zimper studied after attending the Commercial College at the University of Vienna. Professionally, he was editor in chief of the Lower Austrian People's blade.

Since 1970 he was a councilor in the market Piesting and was from 1975 to 2002 mayor of this municipality. From 1980 to 1982 was Zimper provincial party secretary of the Lower Austrian ÖVP. Because of alleged involvement in the WBO scandal he had to leave office; in the last instance, he was acquitted of much of the allegations. As mayor in 1992 he became Vice Chairman of the ÖVP community representatives and 1999 Vice- President of the Austrian Association of Municipalities. He held until 2007 this office.

From 1974 to 1982, Zimper Member of the Lower Austrian provincial parliament.
