Walther Siegmund-Schultze

Walther Siegmund- Schultze ( born July 6, 1916 in Schweinitz, Saxony Province; † March 6, 1993 in Halle, Saxony -Anhalt ) was a German musicologist and university professor.

Life

The son of the mayor of Schweinitz 1921-1925 attended the elementary school in Schweinitz, 1925-1928 the Domgymnasium in Magdeburg, after the Johanneum in Legnica and put 1935, the Abitur. He then studied until 1939 musicology, German literature and Classical Languages ​​at the University of Breslau, where he also phil 1940 with a dissertation on Mozart's vocal and instrumental music in its motivic and thematic relations to the Dr.. received his doctorate. Siegmund- Schultze was a member of the SA and in 1937 joined the NSDAP. After completing his doctorate, he made military service in World War II and was taken prisoner.
