Wandelbert

Wandalbert of Prüm ( * 813 probably in France? † 870 () in Prüm, Eifel ) was a Benedictine monk, deacon, theologian and poet.

Little is known of his personal history. At least 839 were Wandalbert monk at the Abbey of Prüm, the most important at this time of the Carolingian monastery.

Abbot Mark Ward of Prüm initially assigned him to write the life story of St. Goar - the book about the life and miracles of St. Goar.

Then wrote Wandalbert, also in Latin, a martyrology in verse for Emperor Lothair I ( completed 848 or 849 ), a kind of liturgical calendar of saints for the church year. Above all, this work led recently to a rediscovery of the seal wall Alberts: In the actual Martyrology affiliated Calendar poem he wrote about the months, the seasons, the country life, hunting, fishing, fruit growing and wine production in the course of the year.
