Wang Jie (beach volleyball)

Wang Jie (Chinese王洁; born December 4, 1983 in Xinjiang, People's Republic of China ) is a former Chinese beach volleyball player. ( On the official FIVB page is specified as year of birth 1985)

Career

Wang Jie first played volleyball in the Kuitun Sports Training School in the province of Xinjiang. With the beach volleyball the student began in 1992. During her first FIVB tournament in 2002 with Lu Chunhong failed Wang still in the first round of qualifying, the second start for the following year with their new partner Ji Linjun she attended Rhodes already the fifth place in the main draw. This was the largest joint success for the two Chinese. In two tournaments in Norway and in their home country, they still came to ninth place.

After a two year hiatus began in 2006 with the collaboration with Tian Jia the most successful period in the career of Wang Jie. Two wins in Warsaw and Klagenfurt, second places in Shanghai and Phuket as well as bronze medals in Modena, Gstaad, Montreal and Porto Santo formed the balance of this year. There was also a third place finish at the Asian Championships. In the following season, the two Chinese started with a win in Shanghai. This was followed by second places in Sentosa, Seoul, Paris and Stavanger and third places in Berlin and Marseille. At the World Championships in Gstaad Wang and Tian reached the final, where they lost to the U.S. Americans Kerri Walsh and Misty May- Treanor. After winning the silver medal in the Asian occupied in the same year third places in Norway and Thailand, in Finland it Second and the FIVB Challenger & Satellite tournament in Hong Kong were at the end of the year they could decide for themselves. 2008 Wang and Tian occupied in three tournaments each of the silver medal (Osaka, Berlin and Gstaad), in Moscow they were third. However, the climax and conclusion at the same time their joint career was the Olympic Games in their home country. In Beijing, the two beach volleyball players reached the final, but had to turn Walsh and May- Treanor defeated and won as at the World Championships last year, the silver medal.

The last two events of the year denied Wang Jie with her new partner Zuo Man. The two occupied seventh and fourth place. 2009 played two Chinese girls with even at three FIVB tournaments in Shanghai they managed it the biggest success by winning the silver medal. After a 25th place in Osaka and a 13th place in Seoul both ended their careers.
