Wang Lijun

Wang Lijun (Chinese王立军, Pinyin Wáng Lijun; born December 26, 1959 in Arxan ) is a Chinese corruption investigators and politicians. He was vice- mayor and police chief of Chongqing. He was an important figure in a series of court cases against 1544 alleged members of organized crime between October 2009 and July 2010. Additionally, he served as deputy mayor and police chief in Jinzhou, where he worked under Bo Xilai and was considered his closest confidant.

Flight to U.S. Consulate

On February 2, 2012, Wang was transferred surprising to a less prestigious post. On September 5, 2012 Xinhua announced that Wang will accused of abuse of power, acceptance of bribes, illegal wiretaps and due to his flight to the consulate as a defector. In addition, he is accused to have the wife of Bo Xilai protected from prosecution. The trial began on September 17 before the Intermediate People's Court in Chengdu and included two days of hearings. Parts of the process were not public because she allegedly related to state secrets.
