The Warburg (Westfalen) station (short Bf Warburg ( Westphalia ) ) lies on the north -eastern outskirts of the city of Warburg in North Rhine -Westphalia.

Reception building

The now listed station building of 1852/1853 was designed by Julius Eugen Ruhl and had a Fürstenzimmer on.

The building was offered for sale in 2010. The end of 2011 it was sold for the symbolic price of one euro to a local doctor. At 840 square meters floor space in ground and first floors, a Buddhist meditation center with temples, meditation room, dining room and kitchen was built next to toilets and a bistro for travelers. As had been planned start of construction March 2012, actually started the construction work in June 2012.

After the fifteen-month refurbishment, the station building is restored to its historic gable with 16 lanterns. 120 square meters is occupied by the Buddhist meditation room in the east wing of the ground floor.

An official dedication ceremony of the newly designed station is planned for mid 2014.

Location

The Warburg railway station is located on the double-track and electrified railway line to Hamm, the Friedrich- Wilhelms- North train to Kassel and the non-electrified upper Ruhrtalbahn to Hagen. The station was originally an island station, next to the station Minden ( Westfalen) one of the last remaining of the early railway history in Westphalia. The former compound according to Volkmarsen as part of the railway line Warburg Sarnau 1977 decommissioned and dismantled in 1983.

Operation

In Warburg keep the RE trains to Hagen (RE 17 " Sauerland - Express ") and the regional trains on Paderborn to Munster (RB 89 " EMS flare -Bahn ").

By December 2013, began or ended individual traits of RegioTram Line RT 3 Kassel in Warburg.

It run several ICEs, including a daily direct flight to Munich.

The station is part of the Warburg Nahverkehrsverbund Paderborn- Hoexter ( nph ). In the direction of Hesse tariff of Northern Hesse Transport Association applies (NPT).

From the bus station in front of the building there are bus services to the city of Warburg and in the surrounding villages.
