Ward is a small town in Boulder County in the U.S. state of Colorado with about 170 inhabitants.

The town was established in 1860 and named after Calvin Ward was a typical mining town, had numerous gold and silver mines, and counted with the richest cities in the state. At peak times there lived 1,000 or more inhabitants in the city. 1897/98 Ward was joined by Boulder off at the railway network (via the so-called Whiplash and Switzerland Trail ). In 1900 there was a great fire, which destroyed more than 50 buildings.

The historic Denver, Boulder and Western Railway Historic District (also known as the Switzerland Trail of America to German: " Path of the Swiss America 's"), located in and around Ward, is a historic trail area in Boulder County. The area was included with the number 80000882 as part of a historic monument on 18 September 1980 by the National Register of Historic Places.
