Warren Lyford DeLano

Biography

DeLano was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Palo Alto. At Yale University he made in 1993 with a degree in Computer Science and Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry. He then moved to the University of California ( UCSF ) to do his doctorate there. In 1999 he received his doctorate from the University of California. His dissertation was awarded the Julius Krevans Award for the best doctoral thesis of the year at UCSF and published in Science. In 2000 he published the first version of PyMOL on the internet. As of 2003, he drove the program under his company DeLano Scientific LLC. On November 3, 2009 Warren L. DeLano passed away unexpectedly at his home in Palo Alto.
