Washington Senators

The name Washington Senators is in American professional sports awards for teams from Washington, DC been used.

Apart from a short-lived football franchise (1921-1922) three baseball teams of that name must include:

  • A team from 1891-1899 with the participation of both the American Association, a now-defunct Baseball League, as well as in the National League. This franchise was a membership reduction of the League from twelve to eight teams to the victim.
  • A team from the American League, which existed from 1901 to 1960 and since moving to Minneapolis as Minnesota Twins continues to play in the American League.
  • A immediately after the departure of the aforementioned teams newly formed Major League Baseball franchise that played from 1961 to 1971, first in Washington, but in the meantime as Texas Rangers (also featured in the American League) compete.

Since 2005 exists with the Washington Nationals again a Major League Baseball team based in Washington, DC
