Wassertalkogel

The Wassertalkogel ( 3252 m above sea level. A. ) is a high peak in Geigenkamm south of Puitkogels. Although he is one of the few mountains of violin ridge that exceeds 3200 meters, it is something in the shadow of the massive mountain neighbors. Nevertheless, the mountain is quite frequently visited by mountaineers because of Mainz trail leads over its crest height. From the spacious summit plateau with stone men of the mountain with steep drops, but good climbable block west flanks the Pitztal Valley, to the east into Pollestal back from. The Wassertalkogel is towards Rüsselsheim hut of the last three thousand, which you can pass onto the Mainz trail. At the western edge of its summit plateau of the Rhineland -Palatinate bivouac, a spacious bivouac with 9 beds available. The Wassertalkogel takes its name from the north-west Wassertal, a water- rustled steep ravine.

Climbing history

Probably the relatively easily accessible summit has been climbed in earlier times by locals and hunters from the Pitztal or Ötztal. The first known ascent, however, resulted Rudolf L. Kusdas from August 29, 1895. He was of Mittelberg from risen to Pollesjoch to ascend the Puitkogel. On his way to this mountain, he crossed the mountains of violin comb through to Wassertalkogel. After he had reached the summit of Wassertalkogels, he went towards the saddle from between Sonnenkogel and Wassertalkogel.
