Wataru Takeshita

Wataru Takeshita (Japanese竹 下 亘, Takeshita Wataru; born November 3, 1946 in Kakeya (now Unnan ), Shimane Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party ( Nukaga faction ), Member of the Shūgiin, the lower house of the national parliament, for the electoral district of Shimane 2 and former Secretary of the Treasury.

Takeshita, the younger (half) brother of the former Prime Minister Noboru Takeshita and Shūgiinabgeordneten, visited the affiliated high school of Keio University and then studied at the Economics Faculty. He then worked as an economic commentator for public radio broadcaster NHK, and later as secretary to his brother.

For the 2000 election Shūgiin Noboru Takeshita announced his retirement from politics at ( and died a few days before the election ), Wataru Takeshita took over the constituency Shimane 2, which he convincingly won and then defended four times in a row. In the LDP, he joined the former faction of his brother. During the 3rd Koizumi Cabinet, he was Parliamentary Secretary ( daijin seimukan ) Ministry of the Environment from 2008 to 2009 - during the cabinets Fukuda and Asō - then Secretary of the Treasury.
