WATCHCON

Watch Condition (English Sichtungszustand ), abbreviated as WATCHCON is a four- alarm stage system which is shared by the South Korean armed forces and the Ministry of Defense of the United States to coordinate the capacity of the military intelligence. Basically, it is used with respect to North Korean affairs.

The four -stage WATCHCON

  • WATCHCON 4 in force in peacetime.
  • WATCHCON 3 in force when signs of a significantly threatening situation exist.
  • WATCHCON 2 in force when signs of a life-threatening situation exist.
  • WATCHCON 1 in force in wartime.
