Waterloo Day

The Waterloo Day (Day of Waterloo ) is June 18.

The Waterloo Day is a day of remembrance, to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo, where Wellington and Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher gained the victory over Napoleon. He has worked for the British Army has a similar status as the Trafalgar Day for the Royal Navy.

On this day a replica of the conquered French flag is traditionally handed over to the British monarch and then suspended above a bust of Wellington in Windsor Castle. The colors of Wellington ( blue and yellow ) then decorate the Waterloo area of Windsor Castle during a private celebration, which usually will take place the evening.
