Waterlooville is a town in Hampshire, England, around 13 kilometers north of Portsmouth. The city proper has 10,000 inhabitants; together with the communities Denmead, Hambledon, Horndean and Widley, Waterlooville which has grown together metro area, South Hampshire and extending in a north-south direction along the A 3, there is a population of about 45,000.

History

One local tradition according to tradition, the name of the place is attributed to a local pub with the name Heroes of Waterloo; this pub was located at a place called Wait Land End and in 1815 attended by soldiers who had just returned from the last campaign against Napoleon Bonaparte, which ended with the victory at Waterloo. These soldiers wanted to win now celebrate after their landing in the near Portsmouth duly returned in a pub and said to have then settled around this pub that the event was renamed accordingly in Heroes of Waterloo. This original pub was located near the present city bus terminal; pub of the same name was opened at a different location in the city.

The city center is pedestrianized since 1985, also the Maurepas Way, was developed to bypass. The construction of the A3 from Portsmouth to London contributed to traffic-related relief of downtown.

In Forest End the Air Training Corps Squadron is stationed in 2260.
