Maurepas (Yvelines)

Maurepas is a commune with 18,928 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Yvelines department in the Île- de -France region. It belongs to the district of the same name Rambouillet and Canton.

Location

The town lies on the national road N 10 between Versailles (19 km) and Rambouillet ( 18 km).

Attractions

  • Remains of a fortified tower, built around the year 1000 and 1425 destroyed by the English during the Hundred Years War.
  • The Church of Saint- Sauveur at the foot of the ruined castle of the 15th and 16th centuries.
  • The church of Notre Dame in the center of the city. Built in 1973 by architect Roland Predieri and (250 m² ) by the artist Robert Lesbounit adorned with a large mosaic facade.
