Rambouillet

Rambouillet is a place in France in the department of Yvelines, which belongs to the region of Île -de -France.

Rambouillet is located 50 km south-west of Paris, on the railway line to Chartres in the forest of Rambouillet, 142 m above sea level. The city has 25,860 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) and covers an area of ​​3,519 hectares. It lies on the River Drouette.

The main attraction is the Rambouillet (begun in 1375 ) Castle; here had both Louis XVI. and Napoleon a secondary residence. Today the castle is often used for summits and international conferences.
