Waterstones (until January 2012: Waterstone's ) is the leading chain store booksellers in the UK, which also has offices in Ireland, Brussels and Amsterdam. In addition, books on the internet are sold.

Waterstones currently employs over 4,500 employees in 300 stores in the UK and Ireland.

Founded in 1982 by Tim Waterstone in the Old Brompton Road ( London ), the company was a wholly owned subsidiary of HMV Group, which announced in May 2011 that it had sold to the Russian businessman Alexander Mamut for £ 53 million Waterstones. The sale is subject to approval by the shareholders of HMV.
