Life

Watts origin is unknown.

Sussex was caught in the 680er years under the supremacy of Wessex. King Ine of Wessex and sat Nothhelm watts to 688/692 as the dependent subreguli ( sub- kings ) in a Sussex. Presumably, the establishment of several sub- kings served to counteract emerging independence aspirations of the country. Disappeared after 700 watts from the sources. To 714 Nothhelm and Æthelstan are occupied as kings of Sussex documented.

There have been preserved as three copies of charters, which are signed by Watt as a witness. In the year 692 Nothhelm rendered extensive lands in his possession to his sister Nothgyth making this an " salvation of his soul," there was found a monastery. These and a further donation of 20 hidas to Bishop Eadberht of Selsey, had the term "Upper King ' Ine, be whose father Cenred, who probably reigned as a king in Dorset and countersigned by Watts. Smaller land transfers could Nothhelm and Watt apparently make mutual agreement without the consent of Ines.
