Watusi (band)

Watusi is an Australian Latin rock band that was founded in 2005.

History

In 2008 Watusi was for her debut album Tequila - Fuego nominated for an ARIA Award - Sangre. In the years 2008 and 2009 the band toured several times by Japan and Korea. They played among others in South Korea at the " Ulsan World Music Festival " in Japan and the " Horie Music Festival ". The Briton Brian Eno chose the band to play along to the 2009 " Vivid LIVE" Festival at the Sydney Opera House. The song Echale Fuego was two weeks at number one in the Japanese radio station FM Cocolo. In 2010, the band went on tour in South America. Here, the band performed at the "Festival de Teatro Iberoamericano " in Bogotá, Colombia was the first Australian band ever. In 2011, the band released the EP in 1000 Percent Handsome, which was produced by Joel Hamilton. Also in 2011 the second album El Olvido was published. In the same year the band toured with Santana Australia.

On November 17, 2012, the band played the AWME. The AWME is Australia's largest music fair.
