Wayne Allyn Root

Wayne Allyn Root ( born July 20, 1961 in Mount Vernon, New York ) is an American television producer, bestselling author and manager. He was the vice presidential candidate of the Libertarian Party in the U.S. presidential election campaign in 2008.

Life

Wayne Root to 1983 attended Columbia University, where he studied political science. One of his fellow students was Barack Obama. Then he made as a radio and TV producer career. He produced and hosted mainly sports broadcasts on American television, which are little known in Germany. He is also the author of several books.

Wayne Root is married to Debra Root, with whom he has four children.

Political career

Originally he was a member of the Republican Party. Then he joined the Libertarian Party. In 2008, he ran for the nomination of that party for the presidential elections. But He defeated Bob Barr. After all, he was a candidate for the vice-presidency. Given the superiority of the two established parties in the United States but had his party in the elections no chance. Root calls for a reduction of the machinery of government, spending cuts, cutting red tape, tax breaks and more personal freedoms for citizens. He is a proponent of the right to bear arms. Root is an opponent of the two-party system, leading his opinion on corruption and fraud. He is also known for a quick end to the war in Iraq. His political idols are Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater.

When choosing Barr and Root reached 523 686 votes, representing a 0.4 percent share. Thus they finished only fourth place, still behind independent candidate Ralph Nader.
