Wei Jianxing

Wei Jianxing (Chinese尉健行, Pinyin Wei Jianxing; * 1931 in Xinchang (Zhejiang ) Province ) is a Chinese communist politician, former chairman of the Central Disciplinary Committee and a former member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China.

Study and career

Wei, who joined in 1949, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP ), holds a degree in mechanical engineering at the Engineering Institute of Dalian, which he completed with a graduation as an engineer in 1952. He then completed from 1953 to 1955, an operation studies in an aluminum factory in the Soviet Union.

After his return to China he spent 25 years in an aluminum plant in northeast China. During this time he rose to 1980 by deputy head and head of an operating part of the production director, Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of the work, secretary of the Party Committee and finally to the director of the work on.

Ascent to the member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo

He then completed from 1980 to 1981 a squad graduated from the Party School of the Central Committee ( CC). After that, he was until 1983 deputy secretary of the Party Committee and mayor of the city of Harbin in Heilongjiang Province. In 1982 he was elected to the 12th Congress of the CPC candidates for the Central Committee.

From 1983 to 1984 he was Vice President and member of the Secretariat of the All- China Federation of Trade Unions. After that, he worked as Deputy Head and Head of the Department for Organization of the Central Committee. From 1987 to 1993 he served the office of Prime Minister Li Peng as Minister of State Control. Also in 1987 he was elected to the 13th Congress as a member of the Central Committee.

At the 14th Congress of the CPC in 1992, he was elected a member of the Political Bureau, member of the Secretariat, and secretary of the Central Disciplinary Commission of the Central Committee of the CCP. From 1995 to 1997, he was secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing.

At the 15th Party Congress in 1997, he was also elected a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China. He was thus one of the top party leadership and participated in this committee a 6th place.

At the 16th Congress of the CPC in 2002 Wei lost his offices due to age limit in the context of a transfer of power from Jiang Zemin to Hu Jintao. Successor was doing the confidant of the former Party chief Jiang Zemin, Wu Guanzheng.

At the 12th Congress of the All- China Federation of Trade Unions 1993, he was elected President of the Executive Committee. In October 1998, he was re-elected to this office on the 13th Congress.
