Weierstrass (crater)

Weierstrass is an impact crater on the Moon's front west of the Mare Smythii, northeast of the great crater Gilbert and immediately northwest of Van Vleck. The crater floor is level and the crater rim, moderately eroded, at the inner edge traces show larger landslides.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1976 after the German mathematician Karl Weierstrass. Previously, the crater was named Gilbert N.
