The Weilach flows in a Sohlental the Donau- Isar Hill Country. Adjacent meadows and fields are especially where farming intensively in the lower reaches. One consequence of this is the exceeding ecologically relevant guideline values for nutrients such as nitrate and phosphate. Plenty of wide riparian strips are mostly lacking.
Fauna
After its extinction in the 19th century. peopled the beaver (Castor fiber) since a few years back the entire Weilach. In the unloaded smaller tributaries there are still copies of endangered species such as river mussel ( Unio Crassus ) and stone crayfish ( Austropotamobius torrentium ).
Flora
The tree inventory is characterized mainly by black alder ( Alnus glutinosa) and willow species, which are just as typical of these sites as the reed (Phragmites australis) or Marsh Marigold ( Caltha palustris).
