Weißer Schöps

The White Schoeps, Upper Sorbian bely SEPC, is an eastern tributary of the Black Schoeps in the Saxon district of Görlitz ( Germany ). He belongs to the river system of the Elbe, which is reached via the Black Schoeps, the Spree and the Havel.

Course

The river rises in the north of the Great nuns Forest, which extends about 15 km west- south-west of Görlitz. Its source is located south-southwest of German -Paul village between Reichenbach / OL in the north and Bern city on the self in the south. A few kilometers west of Black Springs Schoeps. From its source from the White Schoeps runs in a predominantly north-westerly direction between the Lusatian Neisse river in the east and the River Spree in the West.

As initially smaller Wiesbach the White Schoeps flows in a northeasterly direction to head in Görlitz. It passes through the city to the west and flows through the municipality Schöpstal whose namesake he is. Subsequently, the flow in a northerly direction through the towns Kodersdorf, Horka and Hähnichen before he gradually turns west. In Rietschen arrived he takes on the Raklitza. Then the White Schoeps flows completely channeled on the northern margin of the pit Reichwalde whose purified mine water it receives in a westerly direction into the community Boxberg / OL and flows between the hamlets Kringelsdorf and Boxberg in the approaching flowing from the southeast Black Schoeps one. Relocation of the river bed

To enable the northeastern continuation of the mine Reichwalde, the river bed between 2011 and 2014 will be moved again. From Rietschen from the White Schoeps over Werda, Neuliebel, Hammer City and Altliebel ( Nappatsch ) to the south past the open pit, with a portion of the river is designed close to nature. The mouth in the Black Schoeps occurs just south after completion of the laying of the original mouth before Reichwalde.
