Weizhou Island

Weizhou Dao (Chinese涠洲岛, Pinyin WEIZHOU Dǎo, English Weizhou Iceland, Weizhou Island ') is a Gulf of Tonkin ( Beibu Wan ), this Chinese island. It is located west of Leizhou Peninsula, south of Beihai City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, east of Vietnam. It has an area of about 25 square kilometers, the largest island of Guangxi.
Weizhou
Administratively the villages Weizhous the greater community were Weizhou (涠洲 镇, zhen WEIZHOU ) summarized and included in the township of Beihai Haicheng. A large village Weizhou consists of 53 localities, which are managed by nine village committees and two neighborhood committees. The largest town on the island is Nanwan (南 湾, Chinese for " South Bay ").
Population
The island has about 16,000 inhabitants, of which the largest part Hakka.
Volcanic island
The island is a volcanic island. It is the largest and geologically youngest volcanic island in China. Recently, the National Volcanic Geopark was Weizhoudao (北海 涠洲岛 火山 国家 地质 公园, BeiHai Weizhoudao Huoshan guojia DiZhen Gong Yuan, English Beihai Weizhoudao Volcano National Geopark ) was established.
