Werner Hildenbrand

Werner Hildenbrand ( Göttingen born May 25, 1936 ) is a German mathematician and an internationally respected economist.

Life and work

Hildenbrand studied mathematics and physics at the University of Heidelberg, where he also received his doctorate in 1964 and in 1968 his habilitation in the field of mathematical economics.

Since 1969 until his retirement in 2001, he was Professor of Economics at the University of Bonn and been a guest professor at the University of California, Berkeley. International Recognition learned Hildenbrand in particular his contributions to general equilibrium theory. To this end, he wrote several books and published numerous articles in leading journals.
