Werner Lämmerhirt

Werner Lämmerhirt (born 17 March 1949 in Berlin ) is a German guitarist.

Life

Lämmerhirt is considered a pioneer of fingerstyle technique in Germany. He appeared in the 1970s as a studio musician on recordings by Hannes Wader and accompanied him on tour. His virtuoso guitar playing is based on the American country blues and guitarists like Marcel Dadi and Davey Graham, whose instrumental Angie (not to be confused with the Rolling Stones hit ) is on Lämmerhirts first solo album, released in 1974 on the label stockfish been. Another characteristic is his smoky vocals. In 1975 he took, among others, the guitarist Klaus Weiland and Sammy Vomáčka on a highly regarded session album. While he usually picked on the early albums English songs or wrote himself, Lämmerhirt presented on his later albums own German language songs.

1998 Werner Lämmerhirt was awarded the Ravensburger Kupferle.

Since 2001 organize Lämmerhirt and the Arts and Cultural Association eV Kultini in November each year, the event "Night of the soft tones " in Bodenwerder.
