Wesley Rose

Wesley Rose ( born February 11, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois, † April 26, 1990 in Nashville, Tennessee) was an American manager in the music industry, publishing director and music producer.

Life

Wesley Rose was born as the son of songwriter Fred Rose in Chicago. In 1945, he joined in Nashville, Tennessee, the music publisher Acuff - Rose, the founder had his father and his partner Roy Acuff. After the death of his father Wesley was president of the company.

Rose played a major role in the development of country music industry in the U.S. He was a driving force behind the creation of the Country Music Association (CMA ) and was the first publisher of Nashville on the board of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers ( ASCAP ) and the Music Publishers Association.

The late 1950s to 1961 Rose was manager of the Everly Brothers.

Rose and Roy Acuff in 1985 sold the Acuff - Rose catalog to the Gaylord Broadcasting Company. In 1986, he was - like his father before him - was added to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Wesley Rose died in 1990 in Nashville.
