West Bay (formerly Bridport Harbour ) is a small town located about 3.5 km from Bridport on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England at the mouth of the River Brit in the English Channel.

West Bay has a small harbor, two piers and two beaches. The eastern beach ( on the East Cliff ) is the northernmost point of the Chesil Beach.

The oldest evidence of the place are derived have been built in the 13th century as locks to the mouth of the river to create a navigable estuary of the River Brit. The Great Western Railway came to Bridport in 1857 and led to the port lost considerable importance. The place was then renamed in West Bay. There was an attempt to revive the port in which one goal for him, which was completed in 1883, but this had only limited success. To remove the port the West Bay Building Company was established, the question then to build strove villas and hotels for holiday guests. Just a number of 10 houses was completed according to the plans of architect Edward Schroeder Prior from the Arts and Crafts Movement in 1885. The houses dot the harbor front of the place today.
