West Japan Railway Company

The Nishi- Nihon ryokaku tetsudō K. K. (Japanese西 日本 旅客 鉄 道 株式会社, dt about " Western Japanese passenger railroad corporation"; engl West Japan Railway Company; short: .. JR西 日本JR Nishi- Nihon, English JR West) listed on the Nikkei 225, is one of the seven successor the privatized in 1987 Japanese National Railway (English Japanese National Railways ), collectively referred to as JR [ Group ] ( jeiāru [ gurūpu ], Engl. Japan Railways ).

In fiscal 2007 (April 1, 2006 - 31 March 2007) achieved the JR West in the operating business a profit of 135 billion yen (about 810 million euros ) and sales of 1.26 trillion yen ( about 7.5 billion euros ), of which about two-thirds of the railroad business. History

JR West was founded on 1 April 1987, after the state railway company of Japan was privatized and split.
