The Western Morava (Serbian Western Morava / Западна Морава ) forms the left of the source river Morava in Serbia. It is 308 km long and has a catchment area of ​​15,849 km ².

Etymology

The name Western Morava in contrast to the Southern Morava has become established until the 20th century. Especially in the geographical literature of the 19th century is frequently the name Serbian Morava (Serbian Српска Морава / Srpska Morava ) in contrast to the Bulgarian Morawa, as the region was allocated at the time the settlement area of ​​the Serbs.

Course

The Western Morava is created by the confluence of the rivers Moravica (see also District Moravica ) and Đetinja at Požega in the district of Zlatibor. From there it flows in an easterly direction Čačak, Kraljevo takes on the Ibar at, flows past Vrnjačka Banja, Trstenik and Kruševac, and finally joins just south of Varvarin with the Southern Morava (Serbian South Morava ) to the Great Morava ( Velika Morava ).
