Western Connecticut State University

The Western Connecticut State University ( also Western, WestConn or WCSU called ) is a public university in Danbury in the north of the U.S. state of Connecticut. Currently, about 6,000 students are enrolled.

History

Founded as the College in 1893 as Danbury Normal School. After several name changes, it received its present name in 1983.

Research

To WCSU owns the Jane Goodall Center for Excellence in Environmental Studies, a research center for nature conservation, environmental and wildlife, named after the British primatologist Jane Goodall.

Sports

The sports teams of the Western Connecticut State University are the Colonials. The university is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
