Western Kentucky University
The Western Kentucky University ( WKU also called ) is a public university in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The college was established in 1906. Currently, 18,391 students are enrolled.
History
Historical buildings
- On the campus of the University is the historic Health Buildings -Gymnasium is located (also known as Helm Library). Built in 1930 the school building was added as a historical monument with the number 79,001,034 on 18 December 1979 by the National Register of Historic Places.
- Also on campus you will find the historic Kentucky Building. It was built around 1930 and is located at the Russellville Road. The architect was Brinton B. Davis.
- The Van Meter Hall (also known as Van Meter Auditorium called ) is located on 15th Street, and in 1979 declared a national monument (NRHP ID 79001042 ).
Sports
The sports teams are the WKU Hilltoppers. The college is since 2014 a member of the Conference USA NCAA Division I, the football team plays in the Gateway Football Conference.
