Western Mail (Western Australia)

The Western Mail or Western Mail was the name of two Australian newspapers, which were published in Perth, Western Australia.

Newspapers in Western Australia

The first was between the Western Mail December 19, 1885 and the October 23, 1896 jointly by Charles Harper and John Winthrop Hackett Senior, the owners of The West Australian, the largest daily newspaper in Western Australia issued. It was printed by James Gibbney in newspaper publishing house in St Georges Terrace, a suburb of Perth.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the newspapers tried in Western Australia always new formats, including the Weekend Mail, which appeared five years.

In 1955 the newspaper was renamed The Countryman, which forms the two large rural newspapers of the State, together with Farm Weekly.

Western Mail Limited

In 1980, the Western Mail Limited took over the name after Robert Holmes à Court and the Bell Group failed with the takeover of the British The Times. Under this name, the newspaper existed until 1988.
