WhatsUp Gold

WhatsUp Gold offers an integrated set of modules for network, host and service monitoring. A Windows user interface, and a Web interface can be used to configure and query the data collected. This data is stored in an MS SQL database.

Main features of the software are:

  • Detects all active network components
  • Visualization and documentation of the network
  • Informed when problems occur on the network
  • Collects over time network information and combines them in reports

Survey

The monitoring at the hosts and other devices will be announced via network scanning or manual assignment WhatsUp Gold. Merging into static and dynamic groups for individual hosts facilitates the organization of objects. For the administration are a Windows and web interface. Alternatively, you can directly access the database.

WhatsUp Gold can monitor the status of various services ( such as HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, FTP) as well as disk space, memory and CPU usage, uptime, etc. via WMI, SNMP, TCP, UDP, or SSL to analyze it. For the " polling" of the various devices ICMP, NetBIOS and IPX is available. In addition, can be accessed by scripting File System, Registry, and numerous other objects.

This can WhatsUp Gold in real-time network services, Windows NT services, event logs, Syslog events and the utilization of system resources to monitor and record. In addition, peak load, bandwidth problems and the availability of HTTPS pages are detected.

Once a monitored value exceeds a defined threshold or is no longer accessible, fixed activities ( SMS, pager, ActionScript, WEBALARM, etc. eg e- mail) triggered previously. A redundant design means clustering technique is possible to use a " failover " can be realized by means of scripting. Through the clientless approach, it is not necessary to install special software on the remote systems using the scripting tool can, however ( "remote" ) to remote access systems, or running on these any tools. SNMP-compliant devices can be comprehensively monitored with the help of the integration of any MIB files.

Reports

An important aspect of network monitoring is in addition to the alarm the processing of data collected in order to gain trends and correlations in the analysis of the IT landscape. WhatsUp Gold summarizes the different reports ( reports ) in the following groups:

  • System: system-level and global reports, such as Action Log, Geral Error Passive Monitor Errors, Error Performance Monitor, SNMP trap, Syslog Entries, Windows Events, Active Discovery, Activity, Home Workspace, Recurring Action, Recurring Report, Web User Activity
  • Group: Displays and compares performance and availability data of freely definable groups, such as CPU usage, Festplattenfüllgrad, response time, Active Monitor Outage, state, etc.
  • Device: Special Reports for a dedicated device, such as Festplattenfüllgrad, state changes, Syslog, SNMP Trap, etc.
  • Performance: Overview of the utilization statistics, such as response time, availability, custom indicators, etc.
  • Problem Area: Subdivision of specific problem areas, such as performance Error Logs, various event logs, general error logs, error traps ect.

In workspaces can be combined within the web interface any reports and " Maps". Through the use of Ajax web interface works similarly to a Windows interface.
