Whipcracking

Goaßlschnalzen is a Bavarian- Austrian custom.

The name derives from the term for the Fuhrmann whip, the scourge, in the Bavarian dialect " Goaßl ". Smacking called the loud and fast crash or bang with the Scourge.

In earlier centuries was slammed by many teamsters when entering towns or on other occasions with the whip. To distinguish them from other carts carters put an ever more specific bang consequences. There arose certain impact species such as the forehand stroke, the backhand and the double strike, and later the " Triangle ". Over time, as created theme songs, some carters developed considerable skill and practiced in their free time with the whip.

Customs

  • Today, competitions are held in Goaßlschnalzen both in singles and also in the group. In 1989, the traditional " Miesbacher Goaßlschnalzen " to the " Bavarian Championship Goaßlschnalzen ". For the Goaßlschnalzen even the " Miesbacher guidelines " apply.
