White House Counsel

The legal advisor to the White House ( White House Counsel ) is a member of the Executive Office of the President of the United States with responsibility for all legal matters. His authority is the 1943 under Franklin D. Roosevelt created the Office of Counsel to the President.

Tasks

The White House Counsel is the task of the President to advise on all legal matters relating to this and the White House. Current incumbent is Kathryn Ruemmler, who was appointed as successor to the retiring Robert Bauer of President Barack Obama in June 2011.

The Office of Counsel to the President, for example, deals with the legal aspects of political topics or possible legal divisions that could arise from decisions of the president. This includes the responsibility when signing laws as well as his veto. Also, ethical or financial issues and conflicts of interest are taken into account in dealing with these issues. Limitations
