The small town of White Sulphur Springs is located in Greenbrier County West Virginia, USA.

Location

White Sulphur Springs is located in the southeast of West Virginia. There is an Amtrak station of the same name on the Cardinal route.

History

The hot springs justified its function as a seaside resort for the summer months in the first half of the 19th century ( " Queen of the Watering Places" ).

For the history of golf, the place is important because the family Montague 1884, there Oakhurst Links with the oldest golf club in the United States.

In World War II German diplomats were there at the hotel Greenbrier temporarily interned quite comfortable ( December 1941 - may 1942).

In the years 1958-1961 was constructed as part of the expansion of the hotel (known as the West Virginia Wing ) immediately adjacent to the luxury hotel, a government bunker under the strictest secrecy.
