White-thighed surili

The white -leg Langur ( Presbytis siamensis ) is a primate of the group of monkeys Slim ( Presbytini ).

The fur of these primates is on the back gray or brownish in color and belly white or colored light gray. Named giving feature is the whitish or light gray hind legs; the hands and feet and tail are blackish. The face is characterized by the bright Backenbehaarung and a bright ring around the eyes, often a head of hair on the head there. Like all Mützenlanguren they are relatively small, slender primates with long tails.

White -leg langurs living on the Malay Peninsula - but not in the extreme south - as well as on the island of Sumatra. Here they inhabit the central and eastern parts as well as some of the upstream Riau Islands. Their habitat is forests.

Little is known about the way of life, she probably agrees with that of the other Mützenlanguren match. Consequently, they are diurnal, and usually live on trees, where they move or jumping on all fours. They live in harem groups, which are composed of one male and several females and young animals. These primates are herbivores that mainly feed on young leaves and fruits.

Systematically was the white -leg Langur long considered conspecific with the Bindenlangur, today it is usually regarded as a separate species. The populations of the Natuna Islands are now also as a separate species ( Natuna langur ). There are four subspecies: P. s siamensis, P. s cana, P. s paenulata and P. s rhionis.
