Wickerstedt is a district of the country village of Bad Sulza the north-east of the county of Weimar.

Location

Wickerstedt just northeast of town Apolda and southwest of the town of Bad Sulza on the Ilm and the floodplain. Connection to the northwest by leading national highway 87 is present.

History

For the first time Wickerstedt was mentioned ( " the settlement of the man Wicker / Wigges " ) as a Saxon settlement in the 9th century as " Wicgerestat ". In 1434 the castle was destroyed in Wickerstedt and subsequently died in 1505, the resident knights from. In 1719 a major fire destroyed 111 houses in the village. Even church, parish and school were destroyed by fire.
