The traffic station Wien Simmering is a transportation hub in Vienna's 11th district of Simmering, which consists of the metro station and the bus stop Simmering Simmering ÖBB. General

In 1976, the station Simmering main road was built at this location. With the collapse of the Empire Bridge in the same year and thus the failure of a major Danube crossing the stop and the route is additional significance for the Vienna public transport. As part of the extension of the subway line U3 to to Simmering located instead of the previous, east of Simmering main road stop Simmering main road was the new station Simmering built on the other side of the street and connected by a connecting structure with the subway. On this occasion, the Simmering square next to the train station has been redesigned.

The ÖBB station was later renamed as part of a reform in name stop Wien Simmering.

The investments of the U3 extend directly under the Simmering main road and connected with escalators, elevators and stairs fixed to the surface. They were opened on 2 December 2000 with the release of the fifth and so far last section. Simultaneously, the new stop of the S -Bahn was put into operation. The tram line 6 was extended to Central Cemetery and has since that day, a stop here. It can also be switched to the tram line 71 towards Kaiserebersdorf or Schwarzenberg Place, as well as several bus routes here. Near the station are the Altsimmeringer Parish Church, the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Simmering cemetery.

During the construction of the eastern building of the receiving station Simmering in 2000 the frog prince fountain was erected by Gottfried Kumpf in the forecourt in front of the output Kaiser Ebersdorfer road. The sculpture consists of a 300 -pound frog king of painted cast bronze, sits on a wasserumspülten hemisphere made ​​of stainless steel. The height of the fountain is 2.3 m.

The underground construction is usually accompanied in Vienna from archaeological research. Especially during excavation for underground plant turning east of the station Simmering findings were expected because in the Simmering main street of the Roman Limes Road is suspected, the Vindobona combined with Carnuntum. The Roman road, however, could not be found, but rather the medieval Simmering main road. In the reception building Kaiser Ebersdorfer Street / Strachegasse the archaeological findings are presented in a display wall. Shown are some of the found artifacts as well as a cross section of the road; at the bottom of the display case is the original medieval street gravel.
