Wilbert Suvrijn

Wilbert Suvrijn ( born October 26, 1962 in Sittard ) is a former Dutch football player. He played as a midfielder for Roda and Fortuna Sittard and Montpellier.

Suvrijn played in the jersey of the Dutch national team nine matches without scoring a goal. In 1988, he won the title at the European Championships, came himself but only in the game against the Federal Republic of Germany to a short stint, as he came on in the 88th minute. Against England, he also played a few minutes. Rinus Michels liked him because of his character and commitment and has therefore taken him also to EM. In Montpellier, he has, inter alia, played with Julio Cesar Silva and Carlos Valderrama. His coach at the time was later coach of the French national team and with the world champion. In Montpellier, the Laufwunder Suvrijn became very popular. Romario (PSV Eindhoven ) had nothing to bring against Suvrijn in the European Cup.
