Wilfrid Stevenson, Baron Stevenson of Balmacara

Robert Wilfrid Wilf Stevenson, Baron Stevenson of Balmacara ( born April 19, 1947 in Kyle of Lochalsh ) is a British politician ( Labour Party ) and member of the House of Lords.

Life

Stevenson worked from 1970 to 1974 at the University of Edinburgh and following up in 1987 at the Edinburgh Napier University. 1987-1997 was first as deputy director, then as director of the British Film Institute before he was until 2008 head of the Adam Smith Institute. 2008-2010 was the special adviser to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and headmaster of Prestwood Lodge School in Chesham. 2008 received an honorary doctorate of Napier University, in 2010 he was appointed Life peer as Baron Stevenson of Balmacara, of Little Missenden in the County of Buckinghamshire and since then a member of the House of Lords. Since 2011 he has Whip of the opposition party and spokesperson for business innovation and for Culture, Media and Sport.
