Wilhelm Hempfing

Wilhelm Hempfing ( born July 15, 1886 in Schönau (Odenwald ), † June 6, 1948 in Karlsruhe ) was a German painter and etcher.

Life

Wilhelm Hempfing was a master student at the Karlsruhe Art Academy under Friedrich Fehr. The Radierverfahren and printing techniques he learned also in Karlsruhe at Walter Conz. Hempfing was attached particular importance in National Socialism, as he was represented 1937-1944 with several works on the official Great German Art Exhibition in the House of German Art in Munich. At least one of his works was purchased by Hitler and that, according to Henry Picker, the act " Sitting blonde ", which had a striking resemblance to Eva Braun. His oeuvre comprises mainly the landscape and nude paintings but also portraits and flower paintings. Very productive Hempfing was also with his own, heavily influenced by W. Conz etching.

He went on study trips to southern Europe (the Balkans, Italy, Spain), North Africa, Brittany, Denmark, England and the North German coasts ( Sylt, Sambia, Rügen and Usedom). Hempfing has also appeared as a graphic artist and book designer.
