Wilhelm Hertzberg

Wilhelm Hertzberg Wilhelm Adolf Boguslaw Hertzberg ( born June 6 1813 in Halberstadt, † July 7, 1879 in Bremen ) was a German pedagogue, writer and translator.

Biography

Hertzberg was the son of Postmaster. He studied from 1831 Philology at the University of Halle and Bonn University. In 1842 he worked as a teacher in Halberstadt at the higher public school and he was director of the school in 1845.

His interest was in Latin and Roman culture. From 1843 to 1845 he published a four -volume work on the Elegies of Propertius. He was a translator of many Latin and English seals. In the revolution of 1848/49 he was a liberal supporters. He was soon after cautious and devoted himself entirely to his teaching profession and the Philo mirror.

1858 Hertzberg Director of the Business School Bremen. 1866 appointed him to the Senate as director of the Old Gymnasium in Bremen. School organizer he was significant.
