Wilhelm Kiesselbach

Wilhelm Kiesselbach ( born December 1, 1839 in Hanau; † August 4, 1902 in Erlangen, Germany ) was a German ear, nose and throat doctor.

Kiesselbach studied medicine at the Georg- August University of Göttingen and the University of Marburg. He was a member of the Corps Hildeso - Guestphalia and Hasso Nassovia. He graduated from the state exam and the Doctorate in medicine. After his habilitation in 1880, he taught as a Privatdozent at the University Hospital Erlangen. From 1889 to 1902 he served as Associate Professor of the first director of Erlanger ear, nose and throat clinic. According to him, the so-called locus Kiesselbachi is named, a highly vascular and easily bleeding area in the nasal septum.

From 1884 until his death he was married to the women's rights activist Louise Kiesselbach.
