Wilhelm Kment

William " Willy " Kment (* 1914, † December 22, 2002 ) was an Austrian football player and later a football coach.

Career

Willy Kment began his career at the country Strasser amateurs, where he came into the first team at age 18, after which he spent a year with the DSV Brno, before he returned back to his original club. From 1937 to 1947 he played for Wiener Sport - Club in the highest Austrian league. The biggest success of the center runner at this time was reaching the OFB - Cupfinales 1938 and the runner-up as well in the 1937 season / 38. As a coach Willy Kment started in the Netherlands, where he came to VVV Venlo 1956. Willy Kment led the small club from Venlo with a 4-1 victory over ADO Den Haag in the KNVB Cup final in 1959 for the most successful in the club's history.

In 1960 he was hired as Norway coach and entered in the footsteps of the Austrian Willibald Hahn. The qualification for the 1962 FIFA World Cup, however, was missed against the Soviet Union and Turkey, victories against Scandinavian rivals Sweden and Finland as well as against the Netherlands compensated for this. 1962 Willy Kment finally returned to the Netherlands, where he first two years DOS Utrecht in charge before he was hired by Feyenoord Rotterdam. Willy Kment ranked seamlessly into the ranks of the Austrian champion coach of Feyenoord with Richard Kohn, Franz Fuchs and Ernst Happel one, He even managed the feat in 1965 to bring the first double in their history.

After two runner-up in 1966 and 1967, the return on the Norwegian national team followed. Despite a surprise victory against France, it should, however, this time does not work with the qualification for the World Cup 1970. Thus came Willy Kment 1970 back to Austria, where he oversaw the LASK two years in the National League.
