Wilhelm Neuenhofen

Willy Neuenhofen (* April 24, 1897; † January 24, 1936 in Kleutsch ) was a German pilot.

Life

His career began as a pilot in the Air Force Neuenhofen of the German army, where he scored 15 aerial victories during World War II.

In 1921 he became a pilot in the Junkers aircraft plant in Dessau AG. In 1924 he took a Junkers A20 on flight Feast of San Fernando in Argentina part. In 1925, he worked as a pilot in the LAB in Bolivia, where he was primarily used for scenic flights over La Paz. In 1926 he graduated from the inaugural flight for the first South American route in Bolivia. In the same year he celebrated the anniversary of 100,000. Kilometers flown.

With a Junkers W34 he presented on 26 May 1929, 12,739 m, which he reached after a 45 minute climb, a world altitude record. He earned the captain diploma and also devoted himself to the art flight, on the flight day of AVFL. From 1931 he served as captain for the Jfa. In 1934 he led a Junkers Ju 52/3m to South Africa.

Neuenhofen the Junkers Ju 60 and Junkers Ju 87 was on September 17, 1935 also responsible for the test flights.

With a Junkers Ju 87 crashed Neuenhofen together with the engineer Heinrich Kreft at Kleutsch deadly on a test flight.

Honor

The city of Magdeburg had temporarily named in his honor as a road Neuenhofen street, in Dessau, there is a Neuenhofenweg in the district of Old. At times, even the adjacent tram stop was so named.
