The Wilkhahn Wilkening Hahne GmbH & Co. KG is a German furniture manufacturer based in Bad Munder am Deister.

History

Friedrich Hahnemann founded in 1907 together with Christian Wilkening a chair factory in Eimbeckhausen near Hannover and formed from two names the company name Wilkhahn. The sons of the founder, Fritz Hahne and Adolf Wilkening take over in 1946, the chair factory. Wilkhahn was a pioneer of employee models.

Company

The products are used in the areas of office, conference and waiting. It has its headquarters in the district Eimbeckhausen. Other production sites are located in Spain Castellon de la Plana, as well as in Sydney, Australia.

The company has become known for their ergonomic office chairs.

Wilkhahn currently employs nearly 600 people worldwide. About 70 % of total sales are generated outside of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Wilkhahn became known for the architecture of its production facilities, the pavilion as wood - suspended roof construction of architect Frei Otto (built in 1987) in Bad Munder and the production halls together with energy center by architect Thomas Herzog (completed in 1992) in Eimbeckhausen.
